Filipino Signs of Wit

The sign in a flower shop in Diliman called Petal Attraction
A 24-hour restaurant called Doris Day & Night
Barber shop called Felix The Cut
A bakery named Bread Pitt
Fast-food place selling 'maruya' (banana fritters) called Maruya Carey
Then, there is Christopher Plumbing
A boutique called The Way We Wear
A video rental shop called Leon King Video Rental
A restaurant in Cainta district of Rizal called Caintacky Fried Chicken
A local burger restaurant called Mang Donald's
A doughnut shop called MacDonuts
A shop selling 'lumpia' (egg roll) in Makati called Wrap and Roll
And two butcher shops called Meating Place and Meatropolis.Smart travelers can decipher what may look like baffling signs to unaccustomed foreigners by simply sounding out the 'Taglish'. The Philippine version of English words spelled and pronounced with a heavy Filipino such as:
At a restaurant menu in Cebu ? We hab sopdrink in can an in batol?[translation: We have soft drinks in can and in bottle].
Then, there is a sewing accessories shop called Bids And Pises[translation: Beads and Pieces --or-- Bits and Pieces]There are also many signs with either badly chosen or misspelled words butthey are usually so entertaining that it would be a mistake to 'correct' them like.......
In a restaurant in Baguio City , the 'summer capital' of the Philippines : Wanted: Boy Waitress
On a highway in Pampanga: We Make Modern Antique Furniture
On the window of a photography shop in Cabanatuan : We Shoot You While You Wait
And on the glass front of a cafe in Panay Avenue in Manila : Wanted: Waiter, Cashier, WashierSome of the notices can even give a wrong impression such as:
A shoe store in Pangasinan which has a sign saying:
We Sell Imported Robber Shoes (these could be the 'sneakiest' sneakers!)
A rental property sign in Jaro reads: House For Rent, Fully Furnaced (it must really be hot inside!)Occasionally, one could come across signs that are truly unique - if not altogether odd.
City in southern Philippines which said:Adults: 1 pesoChild: 50 centavosCadavers: fare subject to negotiation
European tourists may also be intrigued to discover two competing shopsselling hopia (a Chinese pastry) called Holland Hopia and Poland Hopia- which are owned and operated by two local Chinese entrepreneurs, Mr. Ho and Mr. Po respectively (believe it or not!)

There is a carinderia here in my town that's called DOLLYBEE.
A "Mang Donalds" Vulcanizing Shop.
"Coo-boh" selling nipa hut cottages.

more to come!

Stand and PEE!

Awww......

What to do?

Its summer vacation.

A day in the life of a little girl.

8:00am wake up, wash up
9:00am eat, eat, eat (breakfast & snacks)
10:00am bathe
10:15am to 12:00noon playing while watching Dora, Barney etc....
12:30pm lunch
1:00pm visit playmates
1:30pm playtime TV turned on (no more naptime)
3:00pm snack time
3:15pm playtime
6:30pm dinner
7:00pm still playtime
9:00pm go home
10:00pm hit the bed

She couldn't concentrate when I teach her in the morning to practice her alphabet and writing, no matter what. Whe it comes to her, its a battle of wills. Children are very different today, they can think up of numerous reasons and alibis just so they wont follow what you want them to do. She doesn't have a playmate so I bring her to my friends' house or to her cousins' house so she can have playmates. She would nag me endlessly when will we go to her friends so she can play. She complains that she doen't have anything to do at home. I guess she gets tired of Dora and Barney already. Well it's actually not healthy for a child to just be at home and watching TV or videos even though they are educational for her. There is no ballet or dancing school here in our town as it is her area of interest. Summer is summer spent here. Just doing nothing.

Stage Mom

I tell you moms and dads, especially to moms, of course, that it is quite easy if your child is a boy when it comes to school's programs and celebrations. Especially what I had just experienced in regards to my daughter's moving up ceremonies.

Why?

1. You have to fix their hair to a couture. She's only four years old and she wakes up late. Imagine how am I going to bathe her, dry her hair, fix her do into something she likes in just thirty minutes time.

2. Select a dress that she will like. Good thing if your child just wears anything you put on them. Mine's different. At a very young and tender age of four, she knows how to appreciate good style to "this-will-do" style. I see she's happy when people complement her about her dresses, thats why she's confident and tells you she's sexy. Yes, she knows what's sexy means. To her, it means the dress is great, it looks good on her and she's noticed because of it.

3. Make up. Not an expertise of mine but with some basic moves, I try not to make her face a canvass for some abstract designs or something. Kidding aside, when my child saw I put something on my eyebrows, she just looks at me. But.... but, beware... Once I leave the room, she will get the eyeliner and do it on herself. Believe the "Keep away from children." label. (this deserves another blog post).

5. Shoes...You dont want your child to be the reflection of your poor taste in clothing.

been a Bee-zy mom lately

Oh what a week that was! Finally it's over. After fidgeting and worrying about what to wear, what to buy, what to do, at last I survived my first and of course my daughter's Graduation Day or Moving Up Ceremonies.

Now I could find the time to doodle here again and think mushy, messy, misery and merry thoughts.

Easter Traditions

The Easter Festivity unfolds at dawn about 4:00AM exactly with the traditional Salubong or Easter Vigil. Here in the northern part of the Philippines where mostly are Ilocanos, we call it "Sabet-sabet." It is a procession heralding the resurrection of Christ and his reunion with Mary. While the images of Mother and Son are processioned separately around the church, then they meet up at the entrance, a little girl dressed up like an angel replaces the Blessed Virgin’s black veil of grief and mourning, with a white one. The Feast culminates with the celebration of a Holy Mass followed by Easter Egg Hunt at the Church gardens for the kids and kids at heart.

Birthday at Jollibee

Here in the Philippines, Jollibee is the number one fastfood restaurant. Here in my town, unfortunately, there's no McDonalds yet. Hoping they will set-up their branch here in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya this year.
My daughter celebrated her birthday at Jollibee last March 12, 2008. It is not actually a birthday party though. She celebrated her birthday party at school. We just ate there. Together with her cousins and grandmother (father's side), my daughter was very happy and giggly and hyperactive. She could not concentrate on her food and she likes to run to and from the playground. When asked how old she is, she just flashes her four fingers to you. She tells me she is long, (not tall). She ordered chickenjoy together with her cousins. My daughter will not eat spaghetti like most children. She doesn't like the sauce and would only eat the pasta. She also doesn't like catsup with her french fries. She would rather dip it into her gravy. She doesn't like the burger, but only like to take a bite on the bread. Choosy you say? Nahhh. I say eccentric eater. One more thing, she only likes the skin of the hotdog.

Golden Rules for Living

If you open it
close it.
If you turn it on
turn it off.
If you unlock it,
lock it up.
If you break it,
admit it.
If you can't fix it,
call someone who can.
If you borrow it,
return it.
If you value it,
take care of it.
If you make a mess,
clean it up.
If you move it,
put it back.
If it belongs to someone else
and you want to use it,
get permission.
If you don't know how to operate it,
leave it alone.
If it's none of your business,
don't ask questions.
If ain't broke, don't fix it.
If it will brighten someone's day,
say it.
If it will tarnish someone's reputation,
keep it to yourself.
If they give you something
even if you don't like it,
still say thank you.
If you fall,
get up.
If you fail,
try again.

Still at the park

The Map of Manila. How to get to the Manila Ocean Park
The floor plan.

The Manila Ocean Park.
Park Rules
Flash Photography is not allowed as this scares the marine animals. One specie we saw was injured at its mouth due to camera flash. Better to bring digital camera. The park is open from10:00am to 9:00pm Mondays to Sundays. Food and beverages are not allowed.

The Manila Ocean Park

This is the proof that I really went there! huh! Well they still don't have much souvenirs to take home or any give-aways for that matter, so I kept these tickets. The admission ticket for adults is Php 400.00 while for a child, it is Php 350.00. It's a big chunk from our allowance but I tell you, it's really worth it. If not for the limited time we were alloted to, (bec. we have to go to Avilon Zoo) I would have gladly stayed the whole day. Looking at the variety of fishes swimming could take the reality and the problems away. I felt transported to the vastness of the real ocean for just a few seconds.
Lunch came and we saw how they fed the stingrays and the sharks and the multitude of marine species. It was such a great experience. Stingrays are 'hand fed.' They were like babies that are spoon fed, straight to their mouth. Even the Electric Eel is hand fed by the scuba diver. It was like Fiesta! How I wish I was the one feeding them that exact moment. It was just so awesome!

Ocean Park Manila

Last March 4, 2008, the United Methodist Kiddie Kollege of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya went to the newly opened MANILA OCEAN PARK.

We were so excited, not just the children but us too, the parents and the guardians to visit the first world-class themed park. The Ocean Mall (as I like to call it) is a fusion bringing together in one complex an Oceanarium, a mall, a restaurant row, boutique hotel, open water marine habitats and multi-purpose function facilities.
When we visited the site, it's just a few meters walk from the Museo Pambata which we visited first as part of the students' fieldtrip itinerary. Located behind the Quirino Granstand at the Luneta Park, so it's not difficult to locate it.
Everybody had a grand time. Aside from those who have seen the Hongkong Ocean Park and the Sentosa in Singapore, it was a first time for most of us. Even those who have seen some oceanarium could attest the beauty and the size of the new Ocean Park.
My child's favorite is no other than the stingray. At first, she thought it was a bird, because of its wing-like body. Even after I explained it to her that it was not a bird, when her Papa called asking what she saw in the Ocean Park, she still replied, "a bird."
The picture above is together with her teachers and some students of the school.

What's your Sub-Personalities?

What is a Sub-Personality?
Sub-Personality is a constellation of feelings, attitudes and behavior which is solidified and emerges out of a specific need. Subpersonalites develop as a way of getting along in the world, and are the faces that we project to others. Each subpersonality is a distinct energy system. Each represents "a person who lives within us" or our various styles of relating to the world.
Most subpersonalities crystallize and grow early in life as coping strategies or protective mechanisms in response to meeting our needs and wants. They emerge as our styles of "being in the world". We all have many of these distinct energy patterns and unfortunately they make no commitment to cooperating with each other.
We occasionally experience internally conflicting needs, desires or beliefs. In such inner conflicts, when our "sub-personalities" or "personas" have conflicting needs, we are not sure what to do or which decision to make.
SOME SAMPLE CONFLICTS
Let us look at some examples of the inner conflicts that may disturb our peace.
1. One part of ourselves may feel we need to spend more time on our professional life while another part may believe we should spend more time with our family.
2. A part of ourselves may want to open up to a conscious love relationship, while another part fears being abandoned, hurt, suppressed, manipulated, or being unable to be ourselves in that relationship.
3. One part of ourselves may want to give those around us (children, spouses, friends) total freedom to pursue their happiness in their own ways, while another part fears losing control.
4. The part of ourselves that wants to please others may come into direct conflict with our desire to satisfy our own needs.
5. Part of ourselves may want others to support us, while the other feels restricted by their support or advice.
6. One part of ourselves may want spiritual growth, while another may feel the need for material security.
7. One part of ourselves may want to help loved ones or friends, but the other may feel that perhaps we are doing them harm by continuously bailing them out and not letting them solve their own problems.
8. One part of ourselves may feel a need to protect the planet by living a simple life with very little consumption of energy and products, while another part may want to enjoy all the comforts of an energy consuming, pollution producing lifestyle.
9. One part of ourselves may want to take a new job or leave a job that we have, while another part wants the opposite for different reasons.
10. One part of ourselves may believe in cooperating with others, while another finds that difficult.
11. One part of ourselves may have a desire for various objects or situations as a source of pleasure, while another part may feel, this is a sin, or that we are not spiritual if we partake of such pleasures. It may feel this type of pleasure seeking is a waste of time and energy considering our spiritual goals.
12. One part of ourselves may feel the need to have an exclusive relationship in which our happiness and security depend upon another person (usually a mate). Another part may find this an obstacle toward its need for independence, self-sufficiency, and freedom.
13. Our need for personal love may conflict with our need to develop universal love.
14. Our need to forgive may conflict with our need to hold on to negative feelings toward someone.
15. Our need to employ various disciplines may conflict with our need to feel free to do whatever we please whenever we choose.
16. Our need to follow our inner voice may conflict with our need to be like others and be accepted by them.
17. Our need to express our feelings as they are may conflict with our need not to hurt anyone.
18. Our need to express our real feelings and thoughts might clash with our need to have the others¢ acceptance. 19. Our need to follow a spiritual guide might conflict with our need to rebel against all types of advice or control. 20. Our need to control persons and situations in order to feel secure may conflict with our need to let things flow and allow others to act freely.
21. Our need never to show weakness may conflict with our need to share our weaknesses with others or seek their help.
22. Our desire not to ask anything from others may conflict with our need to have their help and support.
23. Our need for a stable routine for our balance and growth may conflict with our need for variety and change. 24. Our need to play our familiar emotional relationship games may conflict with our desire to get free ourselves from them.
25. One part of us wants to face and overcome our fears and blockages while another prefers to avoid and ignore them.

WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT INNER CONFLICTS
1. We first need to get to know these various parts of ourselves by keeping a daily diary in which we refer to them by names that represent their particular qualities needs or emotions.
2. We can keep a separate page for each persona in which we list its particular needs, desires, fears, emotions, reactions and beliefs.
3. We then need to discover for each persona the core belief that creates, sustains and drives it.
4. We must accept each persona as a natural development in our evolution process. Regardless of whether there is use for its continued existence, at some point, it served some purpose in our search for security, self-worth, freedom and equilibrium. We can perceive each persona as one of our children, whom we accept and love regardless of its immaturity. Our purpose is to now educate that persona and help it to manifest its higher potential.
5. We can then allow each persona to express itself in its own unique way through dance, writing, drawing, work, etc.
6. We then move on to let them communicate between themselves.
a. By writing a dialogue like a one act play in which they communicate back and forth expressing: complaints, needs, feelings, beliefs, as well as questions which they have for each other. In this conversation questions are asked and then answered by the other party, or perhaps arguments or accusations made on the one part to be rebutted by the other. Attempts are made by each part to get what it needs from the other. The ultimate purpose is to create an atmosphere of communication, understanding and cooperation between these two personas with conflicting needs. b. The same process can then be done verbally as described below.

How do I discipline a child?

"The path to true discipline is to recognize and encourage the divine nature within all children." from Dr. Taniguchi.

How do we guide children properly when they show strong opposition?

Do not underestimate children's understanding of the truth. Do not think that using force or reprimands are the only way to reform a child. There is a divine nature within children. Divine nature is a Heavenly thing. It is "truth" itself. It is natural that "truth" complies with truth. Use reason with children as if speaking to an adult. If what you say is reasonable, children will surely be pleased to go along with reason. Nowadays very few parents reason with their children. They simply force their children to do what they tell them. If this should fail, they then resort to violence and punishment .

In order to develop clear creative thinking power in the minds of children, they must be trained from childhood to think for themselves and do things based on their own opinion.

If we shout and scream or even strike the child, what have we taught the child? We may have succeeded in suppressing the activity but at the cost of teaching fear and the use of violence in getting our way.

As Dr. Taniguchi puts it, "Children's lives are an exact replica of their parents'. It is impossible for children to live a lofty life, even if they are told to do so, when the parents themselves do not." The secret lies not in the use of force but in using reason and respect. Children reflect back to us the way we have treated them in the past.

As parents our job is not to control our children as if they were little robots but rather to nurture the inner good and help them develop the most important tools of life's journey which are courage, prompt decision and intuitional judgement.

Teaching Children to Have Fun

I have been having difficulty lately with regards to my daughter's study habits. My patience is being tested everytime she has homework and tests. I try not to pressure her because of her age (barley 4 yrs. old) but me, schooled in the old ways and studied my lessons all by myself when I was young, have a hard time tutoring her. I found the following article enlightening and would definitely put it to action.
Here is an excerpt from the website of Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi.
Secrets of Getting Children to StudyNurturing Creativity in the Child
The principle behind effective education and learning is a simple one that applies to children of all ages as well as to adults. This principle is joy. When we understand that joy and happiness arise when we are growing and displaying an ever larger portion of our inherent ability and infinite potential, then our objective is clear.
This is a different way of looking at the process of learning. If we regard joy as the essential ingredient, the ingredient that brings life to study, then we realize that where there is no joy, there is no life and study that is lifeless is of very little value. When this principle is kept in mind then what is created in the child is a desire to pursue his interests and talents to their maximum and his life is filled with joy and happiness. Parents often have been conditioned to think that study is work, a kind of chore, something that must be done whatever the effect on attitude. Here often the opposite result is obtained. Children grow up disliking study of any kind because in their minds it is equated with lifeless drudgery. For them life becomes an endless treadmill of existence that seems empty and joyless. This is so because inside the true self is not expressing itself in growth.
Children by nature like to study. You may think that children want to play all the time but it is not true. The reason why they appear to be playing in the eyes of the parent is because they are judging from the standpoint of its usefulness. When children are playing with mud, they are not playing but they are actually studying. They are learning about the nature of mud. What happens when they dig into it? What happens to the color of their hands when mud is on them? What happens when it gets in their eyes? Their hands get rough if they play with it too long. Children are studying and learning by experimenting with these things. When they start to take interest in their studies, they will develop artistic ability, if they have talent, or take interest in physics or chemistry experiments, if they have scientific talent. The modern chemical industry is a product of the growth of those children's talents who started by playing in the sand or mud. The parents are so caught up in the immediate usefulness of what a child is doing and think that playing in the sand or with mud only makes children dirty and really has no merit. That's why they stop them and tell them "to go study." They keep their children away from interesting studies and tell them to study something they have no interest in. Therefore, in the minds of children studying is not interesting.
"Learning is to freely unfold outwardly one's true self, the law, God's life the everlasting life that dwells within."

Hidden Laws of Nature

There are other equally important hidden laws of nature aside from the Law of Attraction. They are -
1. the Law of Affirmation or Suggestion,
2. the Law of Compensation
3. the Law of Causality.

Think Happy Thoughts

"Come with me to Never Land," Peter Pan said.
"How do we get there?" asked Michael.
"We fly, of course," Peter said, zipping around the room.
"Then we cannot go," said Wendy sadly. "We do not know how to fly."
"Flying is easy," Peter Pan said. "JUST THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS."
Wendy, John, and Michael thought very happy thoughts. Tinker Bell sprinkled them with pixie dust. It fell down all over the room.
Soon, Wendy, John and Michael were zipping and zooming around. They could fly just like Peter Pan.
My daughter, who is just three years old asked me, "How do we fly mama?" , "Why can they fly?", "Can I fly too?" Imagine my dilemna on how can I explain to a three year old that people can't fly.
The sequel to Peter Pan, Return to Never Land, has this part:
"Jane I knew you could do it," Peter Pan said. "All you needed was faith, trust, and a little pixie dust."
"You were right all the time. I will always believe in you, Peter Pan," Jane said.
Key words to the story of Peter Pan are happy thoughts, faith, trust, believe. Now the question is, where do we get some pixie dust in order for us to fly?

Easy to say, Hard to do

When we are asked what we want in life, we answer a lot of things. We want everything, we want more, we want a lot more and we want the world!
Everyday we decide that we want this and we want that. We never focus on what we really want. Today I decide I am going to be this, then tomorrow it's another story. This could be the reason why many people dont achieve anything because we cannot focus on what we really want in life.
Everyone wants to be rich. Who doesn't? But the question is always "HOW?"
We are greatly influenced by our environment, by our family, friends and everything else. When we were young, we were influenced by our parents and relatives on deciding what we want. When we are old enough to decide for ourselves, friends can influence us. The media is a very powerful tool when deciding something for our lives. Recently, we watched a tv program that showed people who became rich by defying the odds in their lives. They were poor to start with. One was a fruit vendor and now she is the supplier of imported fruits for the whole region. One was a dancer who worked in Japan and now she owns resorts and some business establishments. Another is a single parent who made money thru selling real estate.
When we watch these stories on TV, we begin to visualize ouselves in the shoes of those who got rich. We like to experience what they are having. Great cars, fabulous vacations, big and beautiful house, numerous friends and happy family. It makes us feel great! We dream their big dreams. We suddenly decide, "I want to be that person."
Another day passed and that dream is forgotten. We are faced with today's problems. We become discouraged and disillusioned. We forgot what we want to be. You suddenly realize that how can you be rich when your salary is not even enough to support your family. You're just a mere employee who needed to please your boss from time to time. You realize that your house is loaned and paying a big interest in the bank. You encounter numerous graft and corruption in your own government that these people steals from the coffers of the government and you are paying taxes for thier pockets.
These situations can and will make a person lose his dreams. It makes him lose his focus on what he wants. Maybe he will just shift gears and be content on where he is, surviving everyday like he will just drift through life without direction and purpose. We tend to adjust or limit our dreams according to our present situation. We lose the picture. On a personal note, I can get really irritated by this remark, "If only I was LUCKY." I can answer you like, "Your name is not LUCKY!"
It really helps if you read about self improvement, positive thinking books and self helps, etc. It also helps to have friends to uplift you up, family to support your goals. Most importantly, if you yourself is an optimistic person, that whatever happens in life, you never lose sight of your dreams. Focus!

The Brain - The Mind - God?

Can you see the brain in Michaelangelo's "Creation of Adam?"

Can you also spot the cross section of the brain in Raffaello's "Transfiguration?"

I searched the web on why did Michaelangelo painted God within the Brain. I could not find any satisfactory explanation or dissertion.Explanation #1 : The background drapery of the airborne God is shapped strikingly like a human brain. Medical experst confirm this observation. Michelangelo's study of human anatomy might have helped him in creating such an accurate picture. Explanation #2 : Michelangelo routinely made use of symbolism and humor in both his painting and sculpture.

In the book "Master Key System" by Charles Haanel, "We are coming to think of God as dwelling in man rather than as operating on men from without."

In the "Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles, "The Intelligent Substance which is All, and in All, and which lives in All and lives in you, is consciously Living Substance."

Pinoy thinking

My friends and I had a topic about positive thinking. One friend of mine is worried about her delayed visa thru mail and she was thinking about scenarios why it is delayed. Maybe it got lost...maybe the address was wrong... maybe the courier did not deliver correctly... and so many other maybe's.
In the course of our conversations, I thought, "Now is the opportunity to change the manner of thinking to make my friend feel confident and attract positive energy than to think weird and negative scenarios that may dampen her realizing the goal she wants."
I told her to think positive thoughts like "it is now on your way." We reassured her that God is good and believe that all will be well as planned.
Filipinos usually construct their sentences like this...
When asked, "How are you today?"
The Filipino answer is "OK lang." - (Translated as "Just OK.")
When asked, "How's life?"
"Eto naghihirap." (Still poor) "Nakakaraos din." (Surviving) "Ganito pa rin." (Still the same)
When asked to contribute or donate or give some money or just to buy something, automatically the answer is "Wala akong pera." (I do not have money).
I remember one time when my mother was asked by a visitor in our house why she didnt apply for a landline phone, her remark was "Wala akong pambayad." ( I do not have money to pay the bills). The visitor answered immediately, "Wag kang magsalita ng ganyan, baka lalo kang mawalan." (Don't say such things, you might lose it.)
One of my friends agreed that it is best to change the sentence to make it positive.
Instead, we will begin to say:
My life is great. I have money. Money is coming to me. My married life is doing great. My kids are going great in school. My social life is great. I have friends that care. I have family that supports and love me. I have different sources of income and money is easy to find. I will not entertain negativity and focus on improving my life spiritually, financially, physiologically, physically ....holistic.

quote - Human Mind

The Human mind is a Superlative scribe
Missing nothing, trundling its
unaccountable impressions from
one lifetime to the next.

Time without end
by Linda Leal Miller

Quotations & Poems 101 - Pain in Life

There are times in every life
when we feel hurt or alone
but i believe that those times
when we feel lost
and all around us seems
to be fallng apart
are really bridges of growth

We struggle and try to recapture
the security of what was
but almost in spite of ourselves
we emerge on the other side
with a new understanding
a new awareness, a new strength

Its almost as though
we must go through pain
and the struggle
in order to grow and reach
new hights

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!

February 7, 2008 is the start ot the Chinese new year and people here in the Philippines are getting ready for it. Chinese or not, due to unlimited media mileage, even if not of Chinese decent are pulled to the bandwagon. Well, not everyone, that is. Some Pinoys chose to spend it as an ordinary day (due to different religions and beliefs).

So why am I writing about it? What is the connection to getting rich? What is the connection to the Law of Attraction?

First question. Why am I writing about it?
Filipinos, though not in general, tend to follow things that are in fashion.TV have a big influence in our lives.
One TV show that I watched recently showed a lot of Chinese charms, bracelets, figurines and a whole lot of things to counter badluck, attract goodluck, protections against incoming problems and more hoova loova. Aside from the fact that all these should be done in Feng shui way.
My perception to these things is that, why buy a lot of things just to assure yourself that you are lucky. Or why buy these things to assure you're not getting any bad lucks this year. Chinese as we know it are inherently business people. They like to make a profit in everything they do.
The thing that baffles me is why do they make all these charms and hoova loova when in the end of the TV show they say that we, as viewers, should not take these things seriously because we make our own destinys. We should still have faith in God that all things will be well and no bad lucks will come to us. It is just a representaton actually, if you come to think of it, that when you see the charm bracelet against sickness and misfortune, you begin to think "I am well, I am healthy, I am protected."
Second question, What is the connection to getting rich?
Simple, people still need icons or representations just to remind them everyday to think positive, think healthy and think rich.
Third question, What is the connection to the law of attracton?
In my opinion, as a newbie, if you think you're lucky, you are. If you think you're rich, you are, even if your environment or present situation is far from the truth.

My firsts!

How Did it Started?

I started reading about "The Secret" and all other books about the "Law of Attraction" when I came about a link from searching about "Rich Dad Poor Dad." It says... "Secret".... it doesn't say "The Secret" or "The Secret DVD". It's a blog about getting Rich and accumulating wealth, I can't really remember the blog that I visited for I just randomly click on what interest me or intrigue me. Secret.... hmmmm..... what's that? Let me see? Hmmm... Then from there on, I was hook. I downloaded free ebooks like Think and Grow Rich, Acres of Diamond, The Magic Story, As a Man Thinketh.... well the list go on...

Well thanks to my curiosity, I have stumbled upon A New Thought or Mind Power or call it what you want. Now the question is, has the Law of Attraction caused me to find my way to this? Maybe, while I was sitting here infront of the computer, all I am thinking and wanting is how can I be rich?

I am currently unemployed, stay at home mom, full time mother, school-home routine... that's what I am. I felt I was not growing. I felt I was not succeeding. The only thing that soothes my boredom is this... the internet. I used to do blogging in multiply and in friendster, but not regularly, only when I feel like it. Only to share something to a few close friends of mine but not actually to the general public for I know they can't relate to it. One thing more, it's written in our dialect.

So after reading and reading all about subjects under New Thought and Mind Power (actually, I havn't finished yet... there's a lot!) I am trying to relate it to my life and apply it as much as I can.

Lesson 1. Be conscious of my thoughts.

I believed before that as long as I didn't broadcast my thoughts, there's nothing wrong to it. That there's no harm if I think bad or evil against anybody or to myself. That there's no repurcussions of what I am thinking. That I dont possess telekenesis or strong mind over matter. Only psychics do that, like when I watch David Blaine...

Then I read about controlling your mind. Thoughts become things. Your thought either good or bad can have an effect in you sooner or later.

Now thinking back.... What did I thought when I was about to take the versant test? It was just a machine actually but it caused me to lose my confidence in my ability. Was I thinking "I wish I'll past the test." or " I wish I'll not flunk the test." Either way, it was kinda wrong, for the Law of Attraction says that I should claim it or consider it done. What I should be thinking then is "I have passed the test." I should have seen myself as a regular employee..etc...etc.

Why was I always fighting with my husband? Now looking back... In my mind, I am always rewinding our previous fights, this time I am the winner, I have the last say, I can defend and I can argue and I can debate better than him. In my mind, I was THINKING that when we fight again, I can invoke more torture, more hurt than he could hurt me. NOW, I have realized that maybe it was a vicious cycle because I was always rewinding the fight scenes. NOw I know better. Why not relive the good times in my mind. Hard at first, But I'll try. This is as honest as I can get.. Nobody knows this... but I am blogging it? What the heck... It is my first step..Admitting my mistakes and hopefully moving on forward...fast.

My first lesson... Guard my thoughts, be conscious of my thoughts, be conscious of my emotions.

The Secret

"The Secret" and the Science of Getting Rich -
Have you heard of the DVD called "the Secret"? Well it isn't such a secret anymore. The DVD was released in March 2006 and according to Time Magazine, the DVD has sold 500,000 units within the first 6 months. Today it sells well over 5,000 copies a day! It ranked in Amazon's Top-5 sellers during Christmas week; and a tie-in hardcover book just entered the Top 10 on the New York times bestseller list.
The amazing thing about "the Secret" is that you won't find it in your local Blockbuster or Barnes and Noble, it is selling briskly through new-age bookstores, New Thought churches like Unity and AGape and the official website at www.thesecret.tv. "It's become the biggest selling item in the 30-year history of our store," says Harmony Rose Allor, a buyer at West Hollywood's popular metaphysical bookshop, The Bodhi Tree. it is "word-of-mouth" marketing at it best.
So what is the secret to "the Secret's" success? It's is a "transformational movie", where a person's view on life and the laws of life will no longer be the same after watching this movie. In a sense, it has created the same kind of effect as "the Da Vinci Code" and the 2004 hit cult movie "What the Bleep Do We Know". The movie has created such waves that it has already been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live and the Ellen DeGeneres show.
At the core of the movie is a central philosophy called "the Law of Attraction". In fact, the movie itself was inspired by this very same law when the producer read a book called "the Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles. This books was written in 1910!
This philosophy states that we create our reality, both good and bad! The message is delivered through 24 "teachers" which include prosperity preachers, chiropractic healers, relationship gurus, life coaches and motivational speakers — into one clear, cohesive voice. The movie is a "must watch" for anyone interested in taking charge of their life and in creating the life of their dreams.
Following on the success of the Secret, 3 of the core teachers - namely Bob Proctor and Jack Canfield have collaborated to produce a wealth building program called "the Secret Science of Getting Rich Seminar". This program is based on the book that inspired the movie and is set to make history as the fastest selling personal development program in history.
What is the Science of Getting Rich about? Well in the words of Wallace D. Wattles, "The ownership of money and property comes as a result of doing things in a certain way. Those who do things in this certain way, whether on purpose or accidentally, get rich. Those who do not do things in this certain way, no matter how hard they work or how able they are, remain poor. It is a natural law that like causes always produce like effects. Therefore, any man or woman who learns to do things in this certain way will infallibly get rich." The Science of Getting Rich is all about teaching how to do things in this "certain" way to create wealth.
The success of this program is built on several rock solid foundations. These factors include: the phenomenal success of "the Secret", the timeless concepts from the Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, the credibility of successful personal improvement teachers and New Thought leaders of our time, and the Internet as the distribution medium.

Money Magnet Affirmations

Money
Money is magnetic energy. You are a magnet attracting to you all things, via the signal you are emitting through your thoughts and feelings.
To become a powerful money magnet:
Be clear about the amount of money you want to receive. State it and intend it! Don’t think about how much you can earn, but how much you want to receive.
Fall in love with money. Most people do not love money, because they always feel that they don't have enough of it.
Visualize and imagine yourself spending all the money you want, as though you have it already.
Speak, act, and think from the mindset of being wealthy now. Eliminate thoughts and words of lack such as "I can't afford it", "It is too expensive".
Do not speak or think of the lack of money for a single second.
Be grateful for the money you have. Appreciate it as you touch it.
Make lists of all the things you will buy with an abundance of money.
Do whatever it takes for you to feel wealthy.
Affirm to yourself every day that you have an abundance of money, and that it comes to you effortlessly.
Appreciate all the riches around you, including the riches of others. Look for wealth wherever you go, and appreciate it.
Be certain that money is coming to you.
Love yourself and know that you are deserving and worthy of an abundance of money.
Remind yourself everyday that you are a money magnet, and ask yourself often during the day, am I attracting money now or pushing it away with my thoughts?
Always, always pay yourself first from your wage, then pay your creditors. In that single act, you are telling the Universe that you are worthy and deserving of more.
Repeat over and over every day, "I am a money magnet and money comes to me effortlessly and easily."
Write out a check to yourself for the sum of money you would like to have and carry it in your wallet. Look at it often.
Do whatever it takes to feel good. The emotions of joy and happiness are powerful money magnets. Be happy now!
Love yourself!Wealth is a mindset. Money is literally attracted to you or repelled from you. It's all about how you think.

Relationships
You can completely transform any relationship, no matter what it's like right now.
Every single relationship you have is a reflection of how you feel inside about you. You are a magnet attracting to you all things, via the signal you are emitting through your thoughts and feelings. Every relationship you have and every interaction with every person, is a reflection of your own thoughts and feelings in that very moment.
To transform every single relationship you have in your life:
Fall in love with YOU!
Make lists of hundreds and hundreds of wonderful things about you. Keep adding to it every day.
Know that you are perfect. Do not think any negative thoughts about you.

Do not blame or criticize anybody, ever.
Set an intention that you are going to see the best in everything and everyone.
Make your happiness the number one thing in your life. Happiness is an inside job.
Free yourself of the responsibility of trying to make other people happy. Respect and love them enough to allow them to take care of their own happiness.
Get your attention off those things in others that don't make you feel good.
Appreciate and love yourself in every moment you can.
Do not expect others to behave in a way you want, so you will be happy. Release yourself forevermore and know that you alone control your happiness and it is a choice, no matter what anyone else is doing.
Love and respect yourself completely.
Know that you are perfect right now.

Know you have the power within you to heal yourself.
Never criticize or blame yourself or anyone else for anything.
